The citizens of Motten have voted. Katja Habersack remains mayor. In the local elections there was also a vote on the district council. The district administrator was also up for election.

Motten – The people of Motten in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen were called on March 8th between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. to elect their local council and mayors. Katja Habersack (independent) was the only candidate for the mayoral election in Motten. She wants to remain mayor and also move into the district council.

had been suggested the incumbent mayor from the voting community (WG) Motten and the WG Speicherz. The free shared apartment Kothen-Motten-speicherz stayed out of it. After the polling stations closed at 6 p.m., the counting of votes began in the municipality of Motten, which also includes the districts of Kothen and Speicherz.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. the first results were in: Katja Habersack had received 83.6 percent yes votes after two districts were counted. In an election with only one candidate, he or she is considered elected as soon as he or she receives more than half of the (valid) votes.

Shortly afterwards, the electoral districts of Motten Town Hall, Kothen Town Hall and Speicherz Town Hall were counted. Katja Habersack was now at 84.5 percent. Accordingly, the mood on site with the mayor is relaxed. Now the two postal voting districts were still missing.

At around 8 p.m. the final result of the mayoral election in Motten was known. Katja Habersack remains the first female mayor in Motten. She received 72.81 percent of the votes. 1,389 people were eligible to vote. The voter turnout was 74.2 percent. “I am very happy about the result. It gives me the tailwind that I need to implement my goals for the community,” said Katja Habersack.

Katja Habersack prevailed in the 2020 election with 91.9 percent of the votes. The voter turnout in Motten was 71.6 percent in 2020. In 2022, there were rumblings at the district border. Former members of the local council expressed criticism of Katja Habersack – and resigned.

Mario Götz (CSU) becomes the new district administrator

In the local elections there was also a vote on the district council and also on the district administrator. In the district election in Motten, Mario Götz (CSU) received the most votes with 75.8 percent, ahead of Patrick Geßner (AfD/15.9 percent) and Maximilian Hümmer (FDP/Free Citizens/8.3 percent). Of 1,389 eligible voters, 1,028 voted.

Overall, Mario Götz received 74.5 percent of the votes in the Bad Kissingen district. Patrick Geßner (AfD) received 15.4 percent of the vote, Maximilan Hümmer (FDP/Free Citizens) received 10.1 percent. Around 82,000 people were eligible to vote in the Bad Kissingen district.

Mario Götz (CSU) will be the new district administrator in the Bad Kissingen district. The 45-year-old will succeed Thomas Bold (CSU), who no longer wanted to run for office after 24 years. Mario Götz is currently mayor of the municipality of Oberthulba in the Bad Kissingen district.

CSU is ahead in the election of the district council

The result of the district council election in the municipality of Motten (according to the interim result at 3:08 a.m.) is as follows: CSU 44.2 percent, PWG 23.7 percent, AfD 15.7 percent, Greens 5.8 percent, SPD 4.4 percent, Free Voters/FW Bad Kissingen district 3.4 percent.

Overall, in the entire Bad Kissingen district, the result in the district council election (according to the interim result at 3:18 a.m.) is as follows: CSU 43.0 percent, AfD 17.9 percent, Greens 9.6 percent, Free Voters/FW Bad Kissingen district 10.7 percent, SPD 7.3 percent, PWG 5.1 percent.
